The Revolutionary Splash A/W 2011

Every season Dubai based High Street Brand "Splash" throws the most lavish fashion show and party all together where a fantastic team of professionals locally and internationally are involved in every aspect. We Actually get fascinated about how it is all put together, not forgetting to mention that the event ends up with a minimum of 2000 attendees. Strictly by invitation. We must admit that this show was extremely revoloutionary and we were so happy to have been invited, be involved (YOU WILL KNOW WHY WHEN YOU SCROLL DOWN) and have exclusivity all in all together to create this post.

And so for this season, “Splash” has been so kind to provide us with the information regarding thier mens collection.

Autumn/Winter 2010 sees Splash Mens deliver on its ‘Eye on Design’ philosophy through three distinctive themes. These themes were taken inspiration from the three main themes of Urban Gangster, Men at Arms and Nu-Ski.

The ‘Urban Gangster’ line for men draws inspiration from the fashion era of ‘The Godfather’ epitomized by the likes of Marlon Brando and Al Pacino. With undertones of the classic gangster fashion, clean slim shapes are mixed with torn and bruised detailing adding a military inspiration to the ensemble. Heavy sweaters in cable knits and long trench coats with fastenings are the highlight pieces in this line.

Denim shirts, long-structured trench coats, khaki chinos and aviator bomber jackets are key pieces from the ‘Men at Arms’ line with air-force graphics and army inspired details like badges and gold cast emblem buttons. All about machismo, this trend is super-luxe yet very fresh.

The ‘Nu Ski’ collection for men has an adventurous spirit with influences drawn from expeditions & mountaineering. Heavy outerwear like knitted trench coats, sweaters with fleece & fur create the perfect aspen ski look, while mixed tones of varsity fonts combined with other winter intarsia serve as the perfect detailing complement.

Most importantly this show always has a glamorous finale with the closing, and this season "Splash" had cherry picked our very own "Mohammed" from "Mens Memoir" with his debut comeback after a couple of years of missing on the catwalk and of course he closed the show with a regal elegance, and an outstanding cheer and applause, we almost thought he was the show and nothing else seem to be there. He sure still has what it takes.

The entire collection is ultra-glam, bringing back old-world charm contrasted by elements of modern gangster and military cool. Choose from any of these three distinctive themes to give your wardrobe its seasonal facelift.
